AmaWaterways Honored as Luxury Travel Leader at the 28th Annual Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas
Calabasas, CA - (Aug. 16, 2016) -
International luxury travel network Virtuoso® has unveiled the winners of its coveted Virtuoso Awards, which celebrate the network’s superlative travel advisors, agencies and partners. Virtuoso recognized AmaWaterways, as the Best River Cruise Line for 2016. The honors occurred before more than 2,800 of luxury travel’s most prominent figures during a gala dinner at Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The event, hosted by Virtuoso Chairman and CEO Matthew D. Upchurch, marked the culmination of the 28th annual Virtuoso Travel Week event and sent 14 winners from around the globe home with one of the industry’s most respected awards.
“AmaWaterways is honored to be recognized by Virtuoso as Best River Cruise Line for a 5th year in a row,” said Gary Murphy, AmaWaterways’ co-owner and vice president of sales. “AmaWaterways strives to provide exceptional river cruising experiences for its guests and this incredible distinction by the Virtuoso travel advisors showcases how our peers feel about us, which is a testament to our dedicated, hard-working team.”
The Virtuoso Awards are unique, as they allow travel industry peers to recognize each other for excellence. The network’s partners vote for the winning agencies and advisors, while agency members select partner winners. This year Virtuoso received more than 2,200 votes from its members and partners.
“The Virtuoso Awards honor the agencies, advisors and partners who are constantly innovating to create amazing memorable experiences for luxury travelers,” said Upchurch. “This network is always raising the bar on the definition of excellence, and this year’s winners such as AmaWaterways have been recognized by their colleagues as truly exceptional in their given area.”
“This year’s conference has been by far the best Travel Week I have attended. Matthew and his team did an incredible job with the coordination of all the meetings and events,” said Murphy. “The energy from the advisors in attendance was motivating, leaving me with a positive belief in the retail distribution system. We are excited to see what the future holds for our industry.”
