AMAWATERWAYS RECEIVES TWO WAVE AWARDS FROM TRAVELAGE WEST

Calabasas, CA - (Jul. 1, 2016) - AmaWaterways, which has the top rated river cruise ships in Europe, today announced that it has received two TravelAge West WAVE (Western Agents’ Vote of Excellence) Awards for 2016. The company was recognized during the 2016 WAVE Awards Ceremony, held on June 16 in Marina del Rey, California. AmaWaterways took top WAVE Awards honors in the following categories:

  • Best Onboard Dining, River
  • Best New Ship – AmaSerena, River
  • “The AmaWaterways team is honored to have been recognized by such an esteemed group of travel agent professionals, as part of this year’s WAVE Awards program,” said Kristin Karst, AmaWaterways’ executive vice president and co-owner. “We are passionate about helping travel professionals be successful and believe it starts with giving them innovative products to sell. It is such a privilege to have been recognized for our efforts in these areas!”

AmaWaterways was one of more than 170 companies, individuals and destinations that were celebrated by the readers of TravelAge West at the WAVE Awards ceremony. Honorees were recognized in 68 categories that spanned the cruise, hotels and resorts, destinations, tour operator, airline, car rental, rail, travel insurance, tourism boards, and GDS. The awards gave travel agents in the Western U.S. the opportunity to recognize the outstanding qualities and services of their travel supplier partners.

Travel agent professionals throughout the 14 Western states and readers of TravelAge West were invited to vote on the best-of-the-best from a list of Editor’s Pick award recipients that were chosen after careful review by Editor-in-Chief Ken Shapiro and the editorial team of TravelAge West. Review methods included product analysis, on-site visits, a survey of a select group of travel agents and online research.

The award wins reflect the standard of AmaWaterways’ world-renowned fleet, which features sparkling glass elevators; contemporary décor inspired by the destination; extensive amenities; lounges with panoramic views; a fitness room; heated swimming pool or hot tub; plush robes and slippers; complimentary in-room “entertainment on demand” systems; Wi-Fi connections in most destinations; spacious staterooms; and connecting staterooms on its newer ships. Many of AmaWaterways’ staterooms also feature a unique French Balcony or “Twin Balcony,” - providing breathtaking panoramic views. AmaWaterways was also the first river cruise line to carry a fleet of complimentary bicycles onboard its European ships and has recently expanded its partnership with Backroads following an increase in demand for active tours.

Additionally, AmaWaterways offers guest’s award-winning cuisine, including regionally inspired dishes prepared by expert chefs. Onboard, all meals are included, along with unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks at every lunch and dinner. Known for its exceptional dining experiences, AmaWaterways is proud to be the only river cruise line ever inducted into La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, one of the world’s most prestigious culinary organizations and is also a recently inducted member of La Connétablie de Guyenne – the third oldest vinous brotherhood in Bordeaux.
