Staying active is an important part of my lifestyle and it has also become very important to so many of our guests, regardless of age. Maintaining your physical and mental well-being doesn’t stop just because you are on vacation, plus, with so many wonderful food and wine choices on board, I’m always looking for fun ways to burn off those extra calories.
The Wellness Program led by Selina, AmaWaterways’ Sports Scientist, was previewed on AmaLyra’s Paris & Normandy cruises this summer and was enjoyed by many of our guests each week. The clear favorites were the 8:00 am sun deck stretching classes, the resistance band exercise classes and the sunset core strengthening classes. The guided hiking and biking shore excursions continued to be very popular as were the late afternoon jogging.
Our Wellness Hosts will be offering these options and more on AmaLyra, AmaCerto, AmaPrima, AmaSonata, AmaDante and AmaDolce sailings in 2018.
In addition to the fleet of 25 bicycles and Nordic walking sticks, all our European ships are equipped with a massage room, fitness room with a treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical and more, whirlpool or swimming pool and walking track. Remember to pack your bathing suit, some comfortable exercise clothes and shoes along with a lightweight rain jacket with a hood, but we provide all the rest.
And, since cuisine plays such a major part in the enjoyment of an AmaWaterways river cruise, we have incorporated even more healthy elements into our culinary offerings. Besides hydration stations and breakfast vitamin shots, you’ll find fresh fish, cage-free eggs and crate-free pork along with gluten-free, low-sodium and vegetarian choices.
I hope to see many of you at my morning stretching class on the Seine, Danube, Rhine or Garonne Rivers starting Spring 2018.
