Acclaimed Travel Expert Valerie Wilson Christens the AmaPrima

Greetings from Vilshofen, Germany!

Standing next to Rudi and Jimmy at the AmaPrima christening on August 6th, I was reminded of the christening of our first vessel, the AmaDagio, back in 2006. We were as proud then as we are today of our newest ship. It’s amazing how far we’ve come – from a single ship to our current fleet of 15 – and I am very happy and honored to have Valerie Wilson as the AmaPrima’s Godmother.

As I watched the champagne bottle burst against the hull of the newest addition to our fleet, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for all the support and loyalty our friends in the travel industry have shown us over the years, and all the guests who have made our dreams a reality. This christening event was a celebration of all that. And what a party it turned out to be! So much local color, with boisterous music, dancing, Bavarian entertainment, different bands, singers and even stilt-walkers dressed as giant butterflies! Vilshofen was truly the place to be on that beautiful sunny day.

What a joy it was to see all the happy faces of our guests, our staff and crew, and the good people of Vilshofen, whose hard work and dedication made the christening celebration such a delight. The residents of this charming and historic German town were sooo excited to see another marvelous ship being christened in Vilshofen! We invited them aboard to have a glass of champagne with us and to see the ship’s beautiful lounge, amazing staterooms, the Sun Deck with the swimming pool and swim-up bar, Erlebnis Restaurant, the fitness center, etc. Our partnership with the city of Vilshofen and its major and tourism manager means so much to us!

I look forward to coming back to the AmaPrima this November for our wine-themed Great Capitals and Vintages of the Danube cruise!
