As the spring season began, Rudi, Gary and I were on hand to welcome many of our wonderful guests and crew on board several of our ships in Europe. Our 22 beautiful ships are ready for an exciting new European sailing season that was kicked off on March 6th on board the remarkable AmaMagna. There are many encouraging signs that this will be a year filled with long-awaited celebrations and much-anticipated reunions during which families and friends will reunite on the rivers with our wonderful Cruise Managers, captains, and crew.
Spring was bursting forth everywhere – from the Keukenhof Gardens and Floriade in the Netherlands to the Easter Markets in Germany or Prague to the floral gardens of Quinta de Aveleda in the Douro Valley of Portugal. There is such a true sense of rebirth and renewal in all the communities we visit.
Seeing is Believing
Spring is definitely in the air and beckons guests to the spacious Sun Deck to enjoy a Champagne Yoga class led by our creative Wellness Hosts. Other spring surprises include the fields of daffodils in The Netherlands stretching as far as the eye can see and the small touches from our talented chefs that bring fresh ingredients from the field to our plates to remind us of nature’s generosity and beauty. Community Spirit
A beautiful new dock, “Donauwelle” (Danube Wave), greeted our guests on AmaMagna’s first 2022 call to Vilshofen, Germany. Rudi and I joined the mayor of Vilshofen, Florian Gams, and other local dignitaries to celebrate this special event. Vilshofen has such a special place in our hearts as we were the first river cruise line to visit in 2008 and since then the community has helped us christen nine ships. We have collaborated with the local community to create an exclusive Oktoberfest event for all our guests who embark or disembark in Vilshofen and it is wonderful to feel the heartfelt welcome from the guides and shop owners who are so excited to see visitors returning.
Preparation to Celebrate Our 20th Anniversary
We are proud to share that our conservative approach to building our ships and managing our growth has allowed AmaWaterways to remain financially secure and well poised for the rebound in the travel business that we see on the horizon. Pent-up demand is huge and with bookings strong for the 2022 season and well into 2023, we are in a secure position to celebrate our 20th year in business on July 1st with many exciting future plans to announce very soon.
