Love, Laughter and Resilience

Like all of you, Rudi and I are together at home adapting to a new rhythm of personal and professional life. We too are feeling the surreal effects of isolation from our immediate family members as well as our cherished AmaFamily. But we are also learning to find joy and laughter in kind gestures of community support and heartfelt messages of encouragement that we received from across the globe. In an odd way, these times of social distancing have actually created a new sense of closeness and connection with our teams working from home, our Cruise Managers and crews waiting safely with their families in their home countries, our travel partners working diligently to take care of their clients and our wonderful loyal guests reliving and sharing their heartfelt river cruise memories. What shines through these connections is the strong resiliency of our teams, partners and crews and the anticipation for future voyages that our guests are sharing.

We recognize the importance of maintaining both your physical and mental wellness during this time. Our Corporate Wellness Host, Selina, has all of you in her thoughts and is creating a series of at-home wellness videos to ensure you can still enhance your best self while remaining safely at home. We encourage you to view her first At-Home Workout, and hope it lifts your spirits until we see you again.

In the meantime, I wanted to share a personal photo that I hope brings a bit of laughter to your day. We recently took delivery and “christened” the newest edition to our fleet – the solar-powered AmaRudi! While AmaRudi may have a limited itinerary on the waterways surrounding our home in Westlake Village, she does embody everything we hold dear – sustainability, sharing good times with friends and reaching out to discover the world from a different perspective.

The rivers continue to flow and so does our love for all of you. As soon as it is safe to do so, we will be back on the rivers and our Captains will be waiting with open arms and welcoming smiles. How sweet that first “welcome cocktail” will taste!

We are busy putting the final touches on our 2022 itineraries and will be sharing those details with you all in the days ahead. Until then, stay safe, remain patient and resilient as our world takes the time it needs to regain a healthy new footing. Keep sharing your wonderful AmaWaterways photos and stories of love and laughter – we truly appreciate them.
