Plan a longer journey in Europe as The Paquins have during their incredible river cruise experiences

Gary and Marie Paquin are loyal guests who have truly made the most of their river cruises with AmaWaterways. Meticulous planners, the couple have combined several of our river cruise itineraries to create 14-night and longer river cruise journeys. With our new, ready-made 14-night Grand River Cruise itineraries, debuting in 2025, planning for an extended river cruise through Europe is now easier than ever. Gary and Marie share their insights on why our longer cruises are the best way to see Europe.

Travel in Style

When friends and family ask them which river cruise they should reserve, Gary and Marie always recommend a 14-night cruise. Their first AmaWaterways river cruise was the 14-night Magnificent Europe itinerary, where they experienced 20 cities, 22 excursions, 5 countries and 5 rivers over the course of two weeks. Aboard our spacious and well-appointed ships, you can visit many of the continent’s grand capitals and charming towns without having to worry about transportation between destinations or securing lodging in each city.

Revisit Your Favorite Destinations

With a variety of included excursions on our itineraries, you can always experience something new—even in destinations you have visited previously. Gary and Marie experienced a few overlaps in some of the towns visited on their combination cruises, so they picked different excursions on their return visits. For example, during their first visit to Vienna, Austria, they took advantage of the walking tour and cathedral visit. On the second visit, they opted for the optional evening excursion to the Mozart and Strauss Concert, where they enjoyed exclusive front area seating.

Variety is the Spice of Life

AmaWaterways offers an array of onboard amenities and entertainment, with included host-led fitness classes, interactive workshops, and spa services (available for an additional fee), along with exceptional performers and guest speakers. During Gary and Marie's Seine River cruise, the night before their visit to the Normandy Beaches, a guest speaker discussed the events leading up to World War II, providing valuable historical insight and enriching their experience. They also enjoyed an outstanding performance showcasing the music of Édith Piaf, the famous French singer known for "La Vie en Rose."

Cruise through France on our Grand Seine & Bordeaux and Grand Seine & Rhône itineraries, both of which embark in Paris.

Add an Extra City (or more)

Gary and Marie encourage incorporating our river cruise land packages before and after your river cruise to make your experience as expansive as possible. The couple have enjoyed exploring Lisbon, Portugal; Prague, Czech Republic; both Barcelona and Madrid, Spain; and Lucerne, Switzerland. They especially loved their centrally located luxury hotels, which made independent exploration during their free time in each of these cities extremely convenient.

Enjoy the luxury of a longer river cruise with our 14-night Grand River Cruise itineraries or by combining two or more itineraries into one incredible custom river journey with our Combination River Cruise offer.
