AMAWATERWAYS CELEBRATES LAUNCH OF AMAKRISTINA

Calabasas, CA - (May. 9, 2016) - AmaWaterways’ newest ship, AmaKristina, celebrated its official launch on April 28 at Vahali Shipyard in Serbia. During the festivities, AmaWaterways Executive Vice President and Co-Owner Kristin Karst, baptized her namesake vessel. AmaWaterways President and Co-Owner Rudi Schreiner then honored long-time shipbuilding partners and friends Koert and Marian Kamphuisen, presenting them with a memorial plate. After special remarks by Karst and Schreiner, guests enjoyed a commemorative champagne toast, a spread of local specialties and dazzling farewell fireworks.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the latest addition to our AmaWaterways’ fleet, as well as the dedication and friendship of Koert and Marian Kamphuisen,” said Karst. “Part of what makes AmaWaterways so special, we believe, is our careful attention to innovative design. It has been a privilege to work with Koert and Marian over the years and to have them as our partners, bringing our inspiration to life.”

AmaKristina is currently being transferred by tugboat on a three-week journey from Vahali Shipyard in Serbia to Vahali Shipyard in the Netherlands, where her interior will be completed. AmaKristina is modeled after the line’s newest ships, AmaStella and AmaViola, specifically designed to cater to the multi-generational and group markets with connecting cabins. Guests sailing aboard one of these innovative ships will have access to a greater number of AmaWaterways’ unique signature twin-balcony (French and outside balconies) staterooms, which provide magnificent panoramic views, as well as expanded fitness rooms and salon and massage areas on the lower deck. AmaKristina sets sail on its inaugural Rhine River cruise March 31, 2017.
