AmaMagna Christening

The AmaMagna was ceremoniously christened on July 11, 2019 in Grein, Austria, in a history-making event that included local musicians and dancers, a blessing from a priest and the breaking of a bottle of champagne on the ship’s hull in accordance with nautical tradition. To honor our latest innovation, acrobats, drummers and jugglers using LED lights were a part of the evening entertainment, which was followed by a spectacular fireworks show that lit up the sky in Grein – a fitting welcome for the newest addition to our award-winning fleet!

Samantha Brown is a highly respected TV personality, renowned for her Emmy®-winning PBS travel show, Places to Love, which is sponsored by AmaWaterways. Over the last 17 years, she has visited more than 250 cities in 62 countries – and we are proud to add our very own AmaMagna to her list, where Samantha on board to bless the ship during her christening ceremony on July 11, 2019.

The extraordinary new AmaMagna previously enjoyed a bit of leisure at the Port of Constanţa on the western coast of the Black Sea. Why? Because this floating haven of rejuvenation has such grand dimensions and offers such incredible personal space that she could not sail narrow waterways to get to her next temporary home—so she had to take an epic ocean voyage to Rotterdam.

AmaMagna then moved to the Netherlands, where she was meticulously outfitted with luxurious furniture and eclectic contemporary design elements, receiving the finishing touches in such venues as her expansive Zen Wellness Studio and Jimmy’s, a new family-style bar and restaurant.

From Conception through Construction
The AmaMagna would not exist as she does today without the expertise of hundreds of construction workers, electricians, engineers, and other professional tradesman who put forth their passion and skill to create this complex feat of engineering.
